The Illinois Department of Public Health has just announced that swimming pools may open under Phase 3 for the express purposes of "lap swimming, diving, swimming lessons, swim team practices, and therapy pool use." We will open the pool for lap swimming beginning Monday June 8th from 5:30am to 8am. (YES THE POOL IS NOW FILLED, HOORAY!!!) Initial days will be Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays. Lap swimming will be limited to no more than 10 people at a time. Current guidelines in Phase 3, for purposes of working out or therapy allow for multiple groups up to 10, separated by 30 feet. Given the dynamics of lap swimming, at this point we believe that we can only support up to 10 people at one time. Lastly, we may institute a Sign Up Genius depending on the response with initial lap swimming.
It is our belief that the pool will be open for traditional family use with the beginning of Phase 4 Reopening by the State of Illinois on or around June 26th. We anticipate that Phase 4 will allow us to have multiple groups of people, separated by a specific distance. For example, in Florida, multiple groups of no greater than 10, separated by at least 6 feet are allowed. Please check the South Pointe Swim Club website for updates periodically.
